Policy Update | The Safe, Clean Water Program is on the Ballot

On the afternoon of July 17th, 2018, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to include the Safe Clean Water Program (SCW) on the November 6th, 2018 ballot for LA County residents.

The SCW program was developed in partnership between the Department of Public Works, a coalition of nonprofits called OurWaterLA, and numerous stakeholders. The program will introduce a parcel tax for owners with impermeable surfaces on their property in LA County. The tax revenue would fund regional and city-level multi-benefit stormwater capture projects which aim to improve local water supply, water quality, and enhance communities. If passed by voters, the program will have lasting effects on our watershed and our work here at the Council for Watershed Health. Learn more about the program at SafeCleanWaterLA.org.
